O.J. Abbott is required listening, and easily accessible from Smithsonian Folkways (YouTube link). A source singer with a strong voice, a brilliant sense for rhythmic phrasing, and a fascinating repertoire of both locally made songs and poetically complex broadsides. Also LaRena Clark, another fine source singer. You can hear a full album on YouTube here, and another eight songs here.
