If 'good' teachers keep resigning, the ones who are left, presumably, will be the ones who don't understand what is needed and who don't know how to combat the dumbing down of the system. The result, slowly but surely, is like the not-so-funny joke about "how to cook a lobster"....put him in cold water and raise the temperature v-e-r-y slowly.... by the time he realizes there's a problem, it's too late. What is needed is for educators who SEE the problem(s) to organize and protest in various ways...(yes, I know about unions and boards of education)...
