Visited Gundagai this year on our gentle meander back to Sydney Airport and our flight back to the UK. As someone mentioned above it is a pleasant typical country town with a nice climate due to it being well above sea level. We stopped off for a light lunch and a wander around (in reverse order) and then set off to find the famous statue. We were amazed to find that there as actually a freeway interchange specifically built to give access to the site of the statue and its attendant services. If, as someone says, the tale of bullocky Bill is a parody of a previous song then it certainly did no harm the area.
