Helen Tech: Desktop icon font change Windows10? (31) RE: Tech: Desktop icon font change Windows10? 17 Jun 17

I have found that the quickest way to find an answer to a Microsoft generated conundrum is to Google it instead of trying to decipher the in-built Help menu, which now goes to a webpage anyway.

When I first started using Microsoft, back in the dim distant dark ages, I found it difficult to use the Help menu because they used specific terminology for a process or function so I had to know what name they had allocated to the process before I could look it up in the Help list. Catch 22.

Then came the useful Help search or index function, but it more than likely would return a massively confusing amount of items with the one I was looking for hidden somewhere within the list. It often meant trawling through the list and opening them to see if they related to my problem.

Using a search engine like Google, with the capability of typing in a question - being specific, of course, e.g. "change icon text color in Windows 10" - can give you a number of dodgy sites but a couple of "bingo" moments which gives you the answer you were looking for in a clear, step-by-step process.

Navigating past the dodgy sites while making sure I had specified Windows 10 was my downfall in the first link I provided. I found a good clear set of instructions but then went back to Google to specify Windows 10 and then created the link and pasted and posted it before reading the page properly. Big no-no, but luckily the Mudelf ministering angel was hovering around ready to fix my error in a flash.

And as Guest 17 Jun 17 - 12:09 PM did supply a link to the answer, we should cut him/her some slack, I think. Thanks, Guest.
