A guy passing a southern river baptizing was grabbed by the preacher and dunked. As he came up, the preacher asked, "Do you BELIEVE?!!" The guy said, "Naw suh", so the preacher dunked him again and longer. Again the preacher asked, "Now do you BELIEVE?!!!" The guy said, "Naw suh" again, so the preacher held him under even longer. When he let him up, spluttering, the preacher repeated his question. This time the guy replied, "Yas suh, I believe! I believe you's tryin' to drown me!"
