Willard Wattles should be shot, though it would have little real effect since he is, presumably, long dead. He should not be shot for the subject or content of his poem, but for having rhymed "flashing eyes"with "hypocrisies". As self-appointed president of the Society for the Elimination of Spelling Rhyme, I object! Our motto is "Rhyme is a function of spoken, not written, language!" "Sleight" does not rhyme with "eight". "Pain" does not rhyme with "again" unless you live someplace where people actually pronounce the latter "uh-gane". "Though" does not rhyme with either "through" or "enough". Words rhyme when they sound the same, not when they're spelled the same! Understand? Just stop it!
