A very small village a few miles from our not very large city has surprisingly substantial, enjoyable, and well attended "4th of" parades. Lots of cool cars, lots of vintage tractors, including Farmall M's and H's identical to the ones I grew up attached-by-the-rump to. Last in line come firetrucks, from all over the area, ranging from ancient to modern equipment, hosing the kids and whoever else opts to stay close to the street. And the ice cream parlor even had some sugar-free my wife could have with no misgivings.
