I run some very amateur sing alongs periodically - mostly attended by people with very little knowledge of folk music or the folk process. One theme that went over well (or at least garnered a fair amount of attention) was the "Dead Folksingers Society" night where I featured songs written by the likes of Phil Ochs, Bob Gibson, Steve Goodman, John Denver, Woody, et al.
