I have been singing LOST JIMMY WHELAN for years, in what Phil Cooper calls "the Art Thieme edit" which is true enough, that's where I first heard it, and I expect that is where Anne Hills & Cindy Mangsen got it, too. Their recording of it was what inspired me to sing it, and I think it was because of them that it got published that way in SING OUT, without the rest of the maudlin Victorian verses. This is a song that fits into so many themes: ghost/revenant, rivers, logging, love, Great Lakes area, Canadian, ballads from the American side of the ocean... Don't know another song in my repertoire as versitile. Joanne in Cleveland
