My dad was in the RAF in WW2- he said he had a friend at that time who told him he was from Walsall & that was where they 'put the pig on the wall to watch the band go by'....
Dudley was mentioned in an earlier post, which is close enough maybe?- my geography of that area is a bit hazy.
