There are haring problems that can shift your perception of pitch. I had it happen briefly a few years ago. Pretty unpleasant. I had a root canal done this morning but I don't think my hearing was involved. I did get vertigo last week, either from the infection or from the penicillin used to treat it, but the hearing parts of my ear weren't affected.
