Why do you automatically assume any deal we make will be bad? Doesn't make sense. I don't. But nor do I assume a deal will automatically be good. And the little evidence we have so far is not encouraging. One of the Financial Times articles I referred to was also published in the Irish Times (which rather makes a mess of their paywall ideas, but that's not my problem). Here is an extract: "But the US joined other major agricultural exporters including Argentina, Brazil and New Zealand in signing a letter sent last week to the EU and UK’s WTO ambassadors objecting to the plan to split the quotas that cover everything from New Zealand butter and lamb to US poultry and wheat." So it is not just the US who will be twisting arms.
