There are at least two songs about John Rae, the discoverer of the North West Passage---blackballed and airbrushed from history until recently--- ----reason--- Englishmen dont do cannibalism. He never tried for the North Pole. In 21yrs. of Artic Exploration he never lost a man unlike most "heroes" with strong links to the Establishment hence their inflated heroic status.
