I have started sing a ditty called "Digging up the road".

This comes from a local singer and is something I feel that I have heard before but just can't quite place.   It also seems to be incomplete.   Can anyone help to add more lyrics?

This is what I have:

See those boys in their corduroys
Hear their sweet and melodious noise
When they all start digging up the road,
They all start digging up the road

With a dink a dink a dink
And a donk a donk a donk
With a pink a pink a pink
And a ponk, ponk, ponk, ponk, ponk
