I have experienced two serious hand injuries. Both to the thumb on different hands, and one a compound fracture. In both instances, (outside of the first hot wax and occupational sessions) my best treatment/cure has been personal-self-administered massage. Tiger Balm has been a good (although stinky) lubricant for massage. Many of the most efficacious cures lie within ourselves. Simple massage works wonderous healing...and it is within our own reach.
