I have just received the sad news of the death on Sunday of Thornton Spencer leader of the White Top Mountain Band of South West Virginia.
Thornton took over leadership pf the band on the death of his brother-in-law Albert Hash over thirty years ago. He will be greatly missed
He leaves behind his wife Emily, Daughter Martha and son Kilby all multi instrumentalists who carry on the sound and spirit of the White Top Mountain area sound.
