Whaddaya mean it's not folk?
Anyway, in case you're interested here's a little back ground: The song was originally an instrumental called "San Antonio Rose" writtne by Bob Wills and one or more of his band, The Texas Playboys. It was very popular as an instrumental, but Wills wanted words to go with it. A number of well-known lyricists of the day (including Irving Berlin, if I remember right) took a whack at it, but it was Tommy Duncan, the lead vocalist for the Texas Playboys, who finally came up with the ones you found. The song was re-released as "The New San Antonio Rose" and Bing Crosby recorded it with tremendous success.
My favorite version features Ray Price and some of the original Texas Playboys. No disrespect to the King of Western Swing, but I sure wish Bob coulda learned to shut up while the song was playing -- one AAAAAH-HAAAAAH! per song is plenty.
