Mostly, I don't listen to lyrics, but appreciate the voice as an integral instrument in a songs musical arrangement. But, I quite often hear great singers I wish were singing in a foreign language because their lyrics are so jarringly crap, I can't help notice, and it drags me out of the magic transfixed state of the song's construction and performance. This particularly applies to late 60s / early 70s rock bands. My wife however, is my opposite and listens to, easily memorises, and sings along with lyrics, good or crap.
