Sad news that the lead singer of Irish band Cranberries Dolores O'Riordan has been found dead in a hotel room in London's Park Lane, she was 46 years of age. A crime is not suspected. The band, which was formed in 1989, rose to international fame in the 1990s and sold more than 40million records worldwide. Dolores was from Friarstown, Co Limerick and I remember hearing her sing "Are Ye Sleeping Maggie" and "Bridge At Killaloescariff Martyrs" at a folk night in The Locke Bar at George's Quay in 1991. She is now released from her torment and demons. May she rest in Peace.
