I know a priest, a Dominican-order friar, who was born and raised in Minnesota not far from the state line with North Dakota. You can imagine what the snow THERE is like.

When he was a young and able-bodied teen, and a storm hit, his father, a decent working-class man, would order his son to bundle up and grab the shovels. The two of them would get into the family auto, and they would carefully venture out onto streets and roads. They would look for drivers and cars that were stranded or stuck, and make it their mission to dig them out and push the cars out of whatever ditch and get them rolling again.

That was his father's idea of being neighborly. The mother was similarly neighbor-oriented. You can imagine what a good pastor this friar is -- the world could use a score more of him.
