I've been looking online and they actually report to the Government, although they are an independent body. Good heavens, do you suppose Theresa May knows how many crumpets I buy? The information I read said they also provide a 'snapshot' of the country as it changes, and it monitors all sorts of things, not just the food we eat. I never knew all this; it's quite fascinating. I'm really nosy, so it would be fun to work there and see what everyone's up to.
