LOL Some of the representatiional art of the Northwest Coastal tribes of British Columbia seems to be a 2-D interpretation of 3-D: To put it simply the art is a conceptual skinning of the animals. Totem Poles are a kind of re-mapping of the animal face and skin onto a cylinder. They can be quite evocative. The tribes cross boundries so they exist in Alaska, usually called Southeast Coastal from our frame of reference.
