Gabriel Lyr Req: Green Glens of Antrim (31) RE: Lyr Req: Green Glens of Antrim 24 Mar 18

'The Green Glens of Antrim' is a song I grew up with hearing regularly, in the heart of the Glens - Cushendall. 'The Blue Hills of Antrim' predates it by nearly fifty years. The Green Glens of Antrim was written by Archie Montgomery (under the pseudonym of Kenneth North) and published in 1950. Archie Montgomery also wrote 'Tobermory Bay' a couple of years later. It has had some modest success, being recorded by Bing Crosby for example.

The Blue Hills of Aon-Druim', to give it the title under which it was published by its author in 1904, is a fine song but has never captured the imagination or hearts of Glensfolk in the way the 'Green Glens' has.
