pfr, Cpt Swing told us he's from Cottingham, East Yorkshire in his post at 6.21 on 26 March.

I've never seen a snow goose, but I have good feelings about them because of the novel by Paul Gallico, which I read and re-read when I was young. The plot line ties in with the retrieval of soldiers from Dunkirk by ordinary people with small boats. It was made into a film as well. Gallico can be a bit soppy, but some of his novels are my favourites. (Totally off topic, he also wrote a book called The Silent Miaow, written from a cat's perspective, about how cats manipulate people into being their providers, supporters and slaves by clever psychological means. Very funny.)

Maybe Cpt Swing, you could write a fruit bat tune to go with the carrion crow tune. Fruit bats are loved or hated or feared, but I think they are beautiful, up close or in the skies, and even their funny chatter in the fruit trees.

I'll share your tune with our music group in Newcastle, NSW, Oz. I'm sure they will like it.

Helen
