Just heard a radio soundbite with a detail that escaped me.
Yesterday was Patriot's Day, with the Marathon and all.
The report on the radio just this morning
concerned the last registered racer to cross the finish line in
Boston's Back Bay.

Bless her heart, she is a leukemia survivor who was treated for cancer at the Dana Farber Institute in Boston.
She registered in the Marathon to race for contributions to Dana Farber, to thank them for saving her life, she says.
She raced from Hopkinton to Wellesley. At that point, the weather was really horrible, and she isn't all that strong in the best of weather.
So, she stopped, took shelter, met up with her husband; and they waited out the bad weather. The weather passed.
And when the weather improved (the soundbite was to brief to disclose what time of day the weather cleared up in Wellesley),
the decision was made that husband and wife would complete the race together.

It was midnight when the two of them crossed the finish line.
And yes, even though they were the very last of the registered racers,
there were people there to cheer for them.
