This is more jazzy/bluesy. Also on YouTube. BETTER PLACES THAN THIS (Douglass Richardson) As recorded by Colte Wolfe on "Colte Wolfe" (2010) [In] my old screened(?) jeans and my beat-up boots [I] stagger to the bar to get a belly o' booze. The man at the door says: "Don't be long." I got to have a tie and a suit-coat on. I push my way through cause it's a challenge that I can't resist, But it ain't too long; he grabbed me by the arm, You know, but I've been thrown out of better places than this. I pick myself up and pour myself toward home. I'm already late; I should 'a' found a phone. I pull into the drive and take a look around. Well, everything I own is layin' on the ground. She comes out a-hollerin' an' tellin' me that this is it. As I'm a-pickin' up my stuff, she says she's had enough. You know, but I've been thrown out of better places than this. Still I make money on a bender. I sure do ... the workin' hung over. The boss man told me not to waste his time And I was headed for the unemployment line. I told him what I thought, and then I showed the man my fist. Security was called and as they drug me down the hall, I said: "I've been thrown out of better places than this. I've been thrown out of better places than this. I've been thrown out of better places than this."
