I sing and write songs in my own accent, with some words "borrowed" from my father and mother. Words falling into disuse perhaps, thanks to the wonderful Scottish education system which has tried it's best to destroy my/our accent. Being from Aberdeen, that means that the audience understanding of my lyrics may be limited, but if they can listen to "world" music, songs from Brazil to Zimbabwe, then they can listen to my particular form of Scots too.
