I was somewhat startled to hear a swingy waltz played at one of our local sessions, so much so that I had to ask the player where he got that version from. "It's by Blair Douglas" - "Cross Border Love". Have a listen and see what you think: certainly some similarities to "Ar Eireann".
Blair Douglas has written some fine tunes and is a great musician, not saying anything agin that.
