“ Gren Blatherwick, one of the founding members of Carrington Triangle Folk Club in Nottingham, and a great character of the Nottingham (UK) folk scene for many, many years, passed away on Saturday. He had struggled with poor health for many years and so his presence around the music scene had waned somewhat but he will certainly be remembered very fondly by all who knew him. Such a welcoming, funny and warm man. Sincere condolences to Margaret and his family and friends on their sad loss.” Before Carrington, he was involved with the Nottingham Traditional Muscic Club. He will be fondly remembered for his renditions of the Shippo’s song (Shipston’s Brewery) his calypso version of wild rover and “Carrington” Ladies Magical Circle -amongst many others. Any of you who may have dropped in to the club on a Wednesday night on your travels or as a performer will, I’m sure remember his geniality RIP Gren Bradfordian (CTFC member)
