Little Hawk BS: The Mother of all BS threads (59136* d) RE: BS: The Mother of all BS threads 01 Jul 18

Ah...the old False Dichotomy proposition:

1. A Heaven with the souls of the people who've died standing around playing gold harps.

Or...

2. No "heaven" at all (meaning no afterlife).

And no other possibilities at all. It MUST be either (1) or (2). You HAVE to believe in (1) or (2).

That is an argument worthy of a halfwit.

It's sort like thinking you MUST vote either Republican or Democratic, and that will somehow make things "right" for the country, depending on which one you pick, of course. One is supposedly "good" and the other "evil". Another False Dichotomy proposition! There are innumerable other possibilities, but the False Dichotomy ignores all of them. The mass media and the politicians LOVE these False Dichotomies, because they are thereby enabled to divide people up into 2 totally opposing groups through a really simple delusion, and thus control them. Just like the crowd at a football game. This same moronic setting up of False Dichotomies is found throughout the American culture, and constantly reinforced in popular entertainment, politics, movies, and religion. "The good guys" vs "the bad guys", and nothing in between. It's idiotic.
