postscript regarding the Flandyke/Flanders Shore discussion. Here is one out of left field. What if Flandyke is a garble of Zanddijk. In the 17th c. Zaandijk in Flanders had hundreds of windmills, used for milling lumber from Scandinavia for shipbuilding. Peter the Great stayed in Zanddijk while studying shipbuilding, per Wiki. |
