Berserkers weren't affected by the full moon. The just drank lots of tea made from Amanita Muscaria mushrooms and went batshit crazy. However, it is important to note that homicidal mania is not necessarily a characteristic of Muscaria intoxication. The berserkers had to be conditioned toward killing. Ordinarily, getting high on Muscaria leads to more convivial activities like attempting to have sex with bears.
