What a range of music. Straight from Handel (Art thou troubled) and Mozart (Magic Flute) to Knick Nack Paddywack & Michael Finnegan. I too remember the wireless set being wheeled into our classroom in time for the broadcast. The BBC made an excellent schools series on folk dancing around the turn of the century. Cutting from pupils in schools to adults at a ceilidh dancing the same dance, making it a real living tradition that people do for fun, not just something you had to learn at school.
