Well, hellooooo Mr. Lenahan! The post above is mostly "good 'ol boy" stuff. In respect for your g.grandfather's legacy, I hope I didn't screw it up too badly. Apologies for errors, they're all mine. To be clear, Dynaflex aside, I didn't mean to imply the two Majors (Columbia & RCA) and the suppliers chose up sides and camps like playback speeds and spindle diameters. The 1970s OPEC years were just the opposite as I recall. I heard about Lenahan from two different CBS-Columbia radio guys converting the ZBM studios in Hamilton, Bermuda to CBS-AM in the 1950s. One was Hal Doan who quit/retired and set up ART Records, Miami-Nassau. The other worked for Columbia Transcriptions, Terre Haute and I can't remember his name now for the life of me. Family legend has it he telexed his resignation from poolside in Bermuda. He's got a whole chapter in one of the Columbia history books so I can maybe track him down for you, hopefully... fwiw: Most of the Caribbean production moved to Pitman when it opened.
