The Spanish have offered citizenship to Sephardic Jews for a very long time. I knew one who had it - he was born in Greece but spent most of his life in the US. To keep everything in order he needed to make occasional visits to the Spanish consulate in Washington, where his situation regularly baffled the newbies on duty who couldn't understand why he didn't speak a word of Spanish. |
