The book which first got me into folk song was the improbably titled "Burl Ives Folio of Australian Folk Songs" , now available online through the State Library of Victoria. My copy cost 6/- though. I wasn't particularly interested in folk music and hadn't really heard very much, but I was a teenage novice guitarist at a time when pop music had gone weird and psychedelic and I was struggling to reproduce what I heard on 'Top of the Pops' on an acoustic guitar with my few chords. When I came across this book in my local music shop I realised this was stuff I could play. This led me to the Spinners, Radio 2's 'Folk on Friday' programme, and a lifelong interest in traditional music. Joe Offer sez: Try this "persistent link": http://handle.slv.vic.gov.au/10381/182366
