Sorry, It is English, I heard it in pubs in Northern England in the late 70s/early 80s. No idea who might have recorded it or wrote it. I was hoping to find enlightenment on the topic. I can remember bits of the words, he ends up in a cell, along with the copper as a bit of poetic justice.
