yes yes yes ! This is a kids' camp kind of song. When I learnt it, we were a bunch of adults on a weekend retreat for our Catholic parish. A Dominican friar led the retreat, and he taught us to act this out, in English. When we got through the whole thing, we were all gasping for breath and Father Bob said, "that was like a cardio workout. " The way he taught it to us, it has no melody or tune to speak of. It is somewhere between a chant and a rap. The rhythm is everything. Fr. Bob, the Dominican (that's O. P., not the caribbean), did the non-verbal parts as a "ba ba, ba ba, ba-ba" that sounded like bebop scatting. The more so as they become syncopated and play against the One. The original post in this thread, from 2012, has every verse the way I remember learning it, that you have three lines, where the verbal phrase is followed by the scatting, and the fourth line you just holler out that verse's bunch of words and then you get to gasp for breath between verses.
