There were numerous reports from the US a couple or so decades ago, of dog owners leaving cars (of a named make) with the engines running and their pet in the back while they nipped into the local store.
When they returned they found their cars had moved off or, on a few occasions, started up when the owners came in sight - several owners were mown down as they walked in front of the cars
It was decided that when the locked-in animals spotted their owners they had jumped about the car in excitement and dislodged the starting mechanism.
One injured owner described how she has seen her vehicle racing towards her with her grinning Schizu at the wheel

The same newspaper. the Sunday Times, also reported how, during a spate of forest fires in the South of France, rescuers were finding corpses among the smouldering remains of the fires they were fighting, all dressed in swimming gear
Apparently, the method of firefighting they wre using was to hang containers underneath their helicopters, and scoop up large quantities of sea-water which would then be dropped on the fires - along with any holidaymaker who happened to be swimming at the time

Both cases of nature taking its revenge, possibly !
