Dear Mudcat Cafe members,

I'm reaching out to a number of traditional dance, music and song online communities to let them know about some new free resources for organizers from the Country Dance and Song Society. I know some of you are organizers and leaders in your communities so I thought you might be interested in these initiatives.

NEW E-MAIL NEWSLETTER FOR ORGANIZERS
CDSS recently launched an email newsletter to support local organizers of traditional dance music and song. The e-news will be sent out four times a year. Expect notifications about new resources, upcoming training opportunities, inspiring success stories and more.

NEW ORGANIZERS RESOURCE PORTAL:
The goal of the Portal is to hold as many of the best resources as can be found that will support local traditional dance, music, and song organizers in their planning and decision making. This includes current resources organized by topic of interest, a list of online discussion spaces for organizers, as well as in-person gatherings and other resources.

You can view the portal here: https://www.cdss.org/resources/how-to/organizers-resourceshttps://www.cdss.org/resources/how-to/organizers-resources

As you look through, you'll note that the resources are currently pretty heavily based within the traditional social dance context. However, some will be applicable to the trad song context and we are working on expanding resources for trad song.   Here is a direct link to our Starter Kit for Folk Song Organizers: https://www.cdss.org/images/organizers-resources/CDSS-folk-song-starter-kit.pdfhttps://www.cdss.org/images/organizers-resources/CDSS-folk-song-starter-kit.pdf

NEW WEB CHAT SERIES:
Beginning in June 2018, CDSS started holding hour-long web chats on topics of current interest to organizers. Past topics have focused on traditional social dance but some of the conversations may be of interest to you. You can watch/listen to past web chats at the link below. The next topic coming up is Engaging Youth and there should be some great ideas that cross over.

We also have some other initiatives in the works. If you would like to hear about them, sign up for Shop Talk.

With thanks,
Emily
