For years I didn't know what the show was about and I ignored it. This was because the name On the Media was too generalized for me. But when I actually tuned in, it was almost always perceptive and topical with a bit of humor infused. Brooke Gladstone visited Alaska which always counts with me. And then one of their reporters a few years ago did a spot on how the Happy Birthday song became a copywrite phenomenon. At the end of it he said he'd consulted the show's go-to legal professionals who advised him against playing the song, and then he played it. That won my heart. The song has since been liberated from the money grubbers.
