I've always wondered if the group may have taken their name from the Frazer Golden Bough book. The group emphasizes songs from seasonal festivities from all cultures, including pagan. I really enjoy their work. They seem to be centered in Modesto, California. Once upon a time, they spent half the year in Germany, but I think they stay on the U.S. West coast now. They do a performance here in Auburn CA every Christmas, and stay in the home of the parents of harpist Nancy Thym. Nancy now lives in Germany, and she's a college friend of sometime Mudcatter Carly Gewirz (sister of Bruce). We're all connected, somehow. -Joe-
