Apart from a reference to the NYPD Choir singing an old standard Irish Music Hall song there is nothing "Irish" about the song at all so God knows where this comes from: "this song is supposedly someone from Ireland who's moved to the US so maybe has picked up the word there." As for the song itself down cliched and depressing.
