Due to NPS budget cuts, Fort Pickens' fishing pier is now open to the public only during daylight hours, but it used to be accessible 24 hours a day. Back in those days, it was a popular place for bored young people to come hang out and drink beer. I once saw an inebriated young woman, on a dare, walk on her hands from one side of the pier to the other.
