Re "Bill Bailey", at our Monday night bluegrass slanted sessions the fiddle player used to play the Kenny Baker instrumental "Washington County" which was actually his version of "Washington & Lee Swing" and had been recorded many years earlier by jazz Musicians as "Louisiana Swing". When a back up musician queried the chord progression the reply was "Bill Bailey". That is why I now sometimes sing the lyrics to Bill Bailey when I hear "Washington County". |
