I suppose I wasn't thinking of sessions at festivals, although maybe I've steered clear of those featuring drums when booked at the aforementioned Keith or 'Muchty? My memory has just been jogged byLondon memories of Ernie Groome with the Rakes at the Fox in the mid 60s, and Flowers & Frolics at the Florence & Empress of Russia in the 80s- both of these essentially dance bands.... Re Jimmy Shand, there was an LP of him playing his melodeon for hymns- 'Sunday Night with Jimmy Shand' or something similar- I bought it but the accompaniment was so loud, he was barely audible...
