Jeannie sometimes sang the bottomless boat stanza -- I first heard her version without this verse and that is how I originally learned it; but I distinctly remember being jolted on an occasion when she included the bottomless boat and I suddenly realised that her slow, majestic tune was a variant of the 'Gin I were where the Gadie rins' melody. |
