There are a gazillion types of USB hubs available out there, many under $10. Including the useless cheap one I got from Amazon a few weeks back. Each of the 4 ports has its own switch which I thought was rather nice until I found I had to reboot after one on/off cycle. And then I had problems doing a large back up. At first I thought is was the new Samsung 250GB SSD and I was cursing a little but it turned out to be the hub dropping data rates to "unuseable". Ow well, you win some and lose some I suppose and at the price, I couldn't be bothered retuning it. And I guess it could just be my version of Linux it doesn't like although I'd suggest problems with standard USB devices are very rare.
