You could power it from a separate 5V mains adapter if you need to, or a powered hub if you have one. DtG's suggestion of using a docking station (sometimes called a Port Replicator) is a good one. I always regretted buying a Thinkpad that didn't have one. It's still working fine after 13 years, but no USB3 :( Once a laptop is about 4 years old, and offices replace them, you can get refurbished docks quite cheap.
