If I started a thread called 'The sun is shining today in Southampton', I'm sure it wouldn't be long before I got posts like: "No, I don't think it is; what evidence do you have to back up your statement?" "What use is that to us? Do you know whether it's shining in Bristol today? Or in Wolverhampton?" "So what ... it no longer shines anywhere near as well as it did in the old days."
